Areas of work

Since 1993, MÄN has been working to engage men for gender equality and against men’s violence. We want more men and boys to take greater responsibility for care, both in their close relationships and in society. Our starting point is the notion that in order to achieve these goals, we must change destructive masculinity norms. We act locally, nationally and internationally for an equal world free from violence.

Through 30 years of gender-transformative work with a focus on men, masculinities and violence, we have developed projects in the key areas of preventing violence, advancing equal parenthood, challenging stereotypical norms, supporting young men and connecting gender and the environment. We have developed methods specifically for children and youth, men of all ages and fathers. We carry out public campaigns as well as local activities around Sweden – through members and activists and with professional staff. MÄN offers trainings and capacity building support to professionals, organisations, institutions and individuals, and strives to be at the forefront of method and knowledge development within this sphere of work and expertise.
